Lesley Burke

Running was her passion in high school.  In High School she was a State Qualifier in Cross Country and Regional Qualifier in Track. She took many years off to spend time with her family and began running competitively again 12 years ago at the age of 40.   She also has been active in Triathlon for 9 years.  "I believe I have learned how to enjoy running as an older runner through strict training principles. Running takes work, dedication, and drive. My wish is for all runners to be able enjoy running as a sport for as long as they can. Being consistent in your training and making recovery a huge part of your plan is very important. I have been blessed with over 100 podium finishes in Running and over 50 podium finishes in Triathlon.  I have worked hard but trained smart to achieve those results".

She has Kinesiology degree from Texas A&M University, and is currently a Physical Education teacher in Mansfield, Texas.  In addition, she is the Run Coordinator and a Run Coach at the Lifetime Fitness in Mansfield.   She has coached runners for several years with the basic principals of consistent work but not over training. She also owns a swim lesson business called Mansfield Swim Stars, so teaching people to be active and healthy is an extremely important part of her life.

Jeff Kirk

Jeff began running at the age of 45, and was hooked after participating in a Turkey Trot 10K.  Prior to that time, weightlifting was his primary fitness activity.  Since that first Turkey Trot, he has completed 27 marathons, 4 ultras, 5 half-iron distance triathlons, and 2 full-ironman distance triathlons.  His analytical background from his profession in mechanical engineering has complemented his training and coaching, as he seeks to balance the importance of optimal training as a master's runner with minimizing injury risk.  It is this training philosophy that has allowed Jeff to be a successful age-group competitor and sub-3 hour marathoner well into his 50's.  Jeff is passionate about his running and training philosophy, and has helped many new and experienced runners find the training that brings both enjoyment and challenge into their running lives.  "I believe that run training should be fun, but also challenging.  Most of my training miles are easy paced miles, so I actually look forward to the smaller dosage of challenging hard efforts, and this keeps my running fresh and fun."
